I was amused by the postscript about the red food colouring. Worth noting that by itself the recipe is vegetarian, provided your cheese uses vegetable rennet, but that some red food colouring is apparently made from cockroaches (ugh!) so one should not add it without checking if serving pumpkin pie as the vegetarian option at a meal.

I might try this one. My Beloved is frightened of pastry (making, not eating) so I may impress her mightily if I succeed. I've never had pumpkin pie, but (a) I like pumpkins and (b) I agree with Sir Arnold Bax (try anything once except incest and folk dancing).

As for where to go next: I recommend Tasmania. Lovely place, and we can invent new holidays for you that will suit your calendar perfectly.

I'm not sure that Mr C's folks would want us living in the same state as them... at any rate, quite possibly Edinburgh or London next I think...

I too was afraid of pastry making, but having now done 18 pastry cases for this weekends feast I am over it....

The mini food processor and the marble cutting board made the process a breeze! She should be afraid! It is easy!

Ok guys, that pumpkin pie is absolutely decadent! Give it a go, you will be totally convinced. I was skeptical too. Just. Oh. Wow.
