Going out with a BANG!

Ok, so we got our visas in a very timely and organised fashion (contrary to what I thought) and within seconds of our passports being in our hot little hands, we had organised our flights home to Australia. Needless to say, there are 7 sleeps till we get home. The kids and I will home for a couple of months, Mr C will have two weeks in Aus, then head back up here to finish up and pack up our humble abode, then he'll come back to Aus and then we will fly to the US. Just like that. I knew things would happen very quickly and I was right.

We'll head to the US early April. Most of our time will be spent at Mr C's folks place (in NSW), but there will be a week before we fly out again where we'll be in Sydney. Would love to see as many people as we can, when we can.

So now that's out of the way...

Happy Rabbits! My, it's awfully LOUD around here!

Forgive my rather poor attempts at a commentary. It was late, I was socially excited, as you can see below...

I have to say though, that I am so glad we got to see in another Lunar New Year, it really is the best time to be here. So exciting! And I really appreciate that we get to experience another culture doing their thing. Perhaps next year we will have to pop on over to DC and hang out in their China Town, so we can get our fix!

It was an amazingly clear night, we could see all the way out to the mountains and when night fell, it was just the most amazing thing to see. Everywhere I rested my eyes, there was something happening. From waaaaaaaay out on the horizon, to right in front of my windows. So many layers, all with fireworks popping off, reflecting off windows, appearing for the briefest moment, to then appear somewhere else in the cityscape. Absolutely amazing. We are so fortunate to live where we live, up on the 23rd floor, in the middle of such an amazing city. We will never ever live anywhere so cool, interesting, dynamic and unique ever again. Yep. I'll miss it.

The kids have slept through all the crackers, both the planned (loudest and longest) and the randoms that take us by surprise. Last night, we set off our somewhat modest (in comparison) supply of crackers, which in turn set off all the car alarms in the area (much to our glee). But really, it all gives a rather lovely ending to our almost 3 years here as we go out with a bang (sorry, just had to slip that one in there...). We have an interesting and challenging time ahead of us as we embark on the next adventure, I can't help but wonder what is in store for us and be just a fraction scared, but it's all about pushing those comfort zones, steering clear of the rut and living a whole heap of life in between.

It's exciting and I'm ready for it! Goodbye, Chinese New Year... Hello 4th of July!
