I know I'm more than a week late, but I have to give some props to the Supernatural writers and researchers for some details that seemed kinda throwaway but are SO FUCKIN' COOL!
Firstly, Chuck's voiceover mentions them catching a Jayhawks game every now and then. Lawrence, Kansas, is the home of the University of Kansas, home of the Jayhawks. Where football is generally an intramural sport but where basketball is a way of life. James Naismith, the inventor of basketball, coached at Kansas. Along with a number of other legendary coaches. We have 5 national championships, 3 NCAA and 2 from before the NCAA existed. Allen Fieldhouse has sold out for 147 straight games. It's not a sport, it's a religion. Rock Chalk, Jayhawk.
Secondly, Stull exists. It is a small town west of Lawrence maybe 10 miles. The rumor/urban legend about Stull Cemetery is that at midnight on Halloween, Lucifer himself shows up as the cemetery is purported to be a gateway to hell. Local law enforcement really cracks down on sightseers, so who knows how true it is. Or if it's just the fabrication of a bunch of drunk frat boys. But it sure makes for a perfect place for Lucifer and Michael to meet to begin the Apocalypse.
