Disney was fun. Wining and dining by salesmen was fun (the first night had to have been a $600 meal for five people.....and the wine was fantastic). Feet hurt. TIRED! Spent lotsa money (three T-shirts, a purse, a Christmas ornament and another doodad to be an ornament). Wish I were still on vacation ( Read more... )

Dad had a business conference in Orlando (everyone was put up at the Swan and Dolphin resort) and Mom came along. The three of us hit Animal Kingdom, MGM and Epcot on Sunday, but Dad had to actually do conference stuff on Monday and Tuesday. So Mom and I went back to MGM and Epcot on Monday, then all three of us went to Magic Kingdom in the evening for the Not So Scary Halloween Party (KICK ASS!!!). And Tuesday, Mom and I wandered around Downtown Disney a bit but we were pretty well exhausted and had painful feet so we didn't do too much. I wish we'd had more time -- there were more things to see and do (especially since that's been my only trip to Animal Kingdom), but four rides on the Rock n' Roll Roller Coaster was pretty fun. :)

Yep, we were at the Swan. It was nice, but it wasn't a super-fancy room. The bed was faboo (very soft mattress, good sheets, down comforter, down pillows), but otherwise it was pretty much like most hotel/motel rooms I've been in -- two queen beds, dresser, chair and side table, bathroom, dressing/sink area. The carpet/wallpaper/etc. definitely were a step up from Motel 6. I think the best part were the shuttle buses to the parks (and boat launches to MGM and Epcot) -- better than having to drive and park! Any time we've been to Disney before, we've stayed off-resort at Motel 6 and its ilk, so this was a nice change (paid for by Dad's company...hee!).

Wish I'd had more time at Animal Kingdom, but Dinosaur was fun. It stopped on us for a little bit -- we were stuck in the silent dark for about two minutes. I figure it was a slight delay in loading/unloading folks, but it was a little strange. Expedition Everest was pretty good, if you like roller coasters. And the safari ride (lions! elephants! monkeys!) was pretty nifty too.

Ahhh, the joys of packing, I really sympathize. Good luck with it all.

And good to hear that you had a nice time on your vacation.

Sadly, yes. I just booked the mover. They pick my junk up Dec. 11 and I'll start driving either the 12th or 13th (depending on whether I have to take a final in my biology class). Just in time to freeze my ass off.

Not my ideal choice of times to return, but it will put me back in the state at least six months before full-time classes begin, thus I will officially be a Kansas resident and not have to pay out-of-state tuition. Which is friggin' expensive.

I'm definitely trying to baby the foot, but it was getting swollen on me yesterday (as I packed boxes for two hours). Joy joy...

I'm certainly trying. I guess it's good that Dad's planning to come help me drive back! (Translation: He'll do probably 90% of the driving....)
