The Paddock Party ... I think I get it now, and I'm even more disappointed in REC than I was before, if that's possible.
Essentially REC is saying to its vendors, workers, performers, and animals, "We don't care enough about you to do any more than the bare minimum for you."
"Everyone else is keeping their paddocks like this" is like the whining excuse of a child who wants to do something they know their parents don't approve of. Just because the conditions at NYRF's paddocks are "better than most other places" does not mean that the current conditions are acceptable or beneficial for the horses. It should not mean that it's OK for REC to leave things the way they are. It does mean that faires in general, and REC in specific, should be ashamed of the conditions of their paddocks.
Yes, the horses definitely deserve better conditions. And it totally rocks that people feel strongly enough about it to actually help DO something about it.
I just think that it's inutterably sad that in order to provide better conditions for the horses, Rennies as a community feel they must put up their own hard-earned cash to help, because REC will not do it.
Shame on you, REC.
