Attention, All Fandoms!
Today is the Feast of Plastic Paddy. It is, evidently, celebrated with green, weak lager; inauthentic food; mockery of cherished traditions; and All That, particularly by Yanks. It is (one hears) customary that all the Fernandezes, Wangs, Goldfarbs, Tkaches, Nguyens, da Silvas, Kowalskis, Schmidts, van Doorns, Lanzas, and all sorts, declare themselves ‘Oirish for the Day’ and participate in these plastic and inauthentic rites.
Consequently, today may be quiet on the ‘meta’ front (we may at least hope).
Tomorrow, fandom’s self-righteous Americans, the Fernandezes, Wangs, Goldfarbs, Tkaches, Nguyens, da Silvas, Kowalskis, Schmidts, van Doorns, Lanzas, and all sorts, shall once again ‘take up the white man’s burden’ and lecture the rest of us on the evils of insensitivity and cultural appropriation, as only Yanks of their sort can.
