Lovely books. Silly author. (Happens all the time. Conan Doyle created the great reasoner in fiction, then went off to be gulled by table-rapping and fairies in the bottom of the garden.)

It's possible she's just really bored and enjoys stirring things...

On an unrelated note, I liked "Cross and Poppy" very much indeed. I thought the various clerics were particularly well-drawn.
