Here’s some bipartisan agreement for you (that’s yer actual cross-party agreement, that is!). Bar a markedly different view on the Tobin tax, I can associate myself wholly with it - and note that it goes nowhere near far enough. Any government of HM’s that had signed on to a scheme under which the last remnants of Parliamentary sovereignty were ceded to foreign Sir Humphreys and - dubiously elected, if elected at all - foreign politicians, and who particularly ceded control of the Exchequer to any group who were not hon. and right hon. Members of the House accountable to their constituencies, were guilty of treason. There are people, it seems, who are content that their home nations should be satrapies of the Berlin-Strasbourg-Brussels-Paris axis, and that their ‘heads of government’ - who are now but satraps - be chosen, without reference to the people, by the Inner Ring in that axis. To this abject pusillanimity, I can only say that the charter of the land is quite explicit here: Britons never will be slaves.
