A goodish few weeks ago, I read an essay on - well, slash, naturally, but that’s not the point. And it was interesting. Nevertheless, it gave me my Episode of Cognitive Dissonance for the day. There was a link to an article from the public press, and the link said something along the lines of, ‘Such and so wrote in the Times….’ And do you know, it linked to some newspaper in New York?
I realise that I am urging a convention that is simply universally disregarded by Our American Friends, but, please, is it too much to ask that the New York Newspaper of That Name be distinguished from THE Times - which, I remind you, is simply not some non-existent newspaper called the London Times or The Times of London or anything of the sort?
