sitting in on some grad school classes at new school. one was cancelled tonight, so i saw laurie anderson downstairs in the same building for free. was good, but i sometimes forget how much i don't "get" art or almost anything surrounding it. speaking of which, xerox and i went to see the max ernst exhibit at the met, but unbeknownst to us they were closed yesterday!? soft serve ice cream and a beautiful day outside were had instead. in both cases, frustration turned into wonderful.
band of the moment: skaters.
we recorded the other day, and at the time we thought our jams were not up to par with usual, but going to back and listening we're all realizing it's *incredible*. and i never genuinely think that about things i'm involved in. this also means that if this recording was just mediocre compared to many other nights, we only wonder what those will sound like recorded, since things sound almost completely different going back to hear them with fresh ears. it's been so long since i've heard myself play drums on a recording. i was impressed with my playing! i usually think i'm just alright, but sometimes i really bust out my shit on these recordings and i'm like "shit, that's me!?" it's a good feeling. each track sounds almost totally different from the next. at times digustingly brutal, others get sucked into a molten lava repetitive groove of filth, some strangely remind of newer boredoms for sheer trance inducing psychdrug arms-in-air maic insanity. we plan to record every jam from now on and i'm going to start a label (not boobtown, a new one) to release cdrs of our evolution because this is really going somewhere, and that somewhere takes lots of drugs and likes to fuck random dirty whores.
the phone beckons...
