Looking in the mirror has always been a surreal experience - I cannot recognize myself in my own image - but lately it's been worse.
The topography of my face has changed since the impact. I have a hard ridge of embattled muscle stretching from the corner of my eye to my cheek and, just inside that ridge, a deep cleft of no-muscle-left.
My face is dented.
If we were in a grocery store and my face was a canned good, you wouldn't take it home.
