Set before 4x18 The Monster At The End Of the Book
It used to be like this: Chuck got drunk,dreamed weird stuff that involved two brothers,the 'Winchesters',he woke up and started another book.
And Chuck waited for the next dream until he wrote so much as another word in the Supernatural series. He'd often find himself excited to find out what his characters would get into next,especially in the beginning.
Then in the four months 'Dean' apparently spent in hell, Chuck's interest was more of the desperate kind. Hoping and wishing he'd knew what was going on with his characters but not quite daring to write another end,one he hadn't dreamed up.
And now he knew how the story went on. Knew that 'Dean' had been saved by an angel of the lord. Which is pretty cool 'cause Chuck spent 3 years dreaming up demons and ghosts and a lot of other weird stuff but never an angel.
It doesn't really matter that the angel said his name was 'Castiel' even though Chuck is pretty sure he has never heard of that name before and he has to look it up to find out that an angel named Castiel actually exists in the angel myth as the angel of Thursday,because Chuck's also pretty sure he never heard of Wendigos or Shtrigas but that didn't stop them from showing up in his stories.
'Castiel' is also quite intriguing. Chuck is really proud of that and he just hopes the books will be picked up again soon... . The first time 'Castiel' shows up and 'Dean' and 'Bobby' try to kill him he's all 'God's got a mission or you,you're our Saviour,blah blah' and generally fanboying over 'Dean (which Chuck can totally understand 'cause Dean is a pretty cool character and also really good looking...) but then he's just a blank page. He changes everytime.
Chuck may not be quite as skeptic as 'Dean' tends to be towards things but before he did his own research on 'Castiel' and listened to what 'Bobby' had to say he didn't really believe him either. After all,he can still remember the last time he thought he dreamed up an angel and it turned out to be just another ghost. And by the time he has his second dream of 'Castiel' he's at least sure that 'Dean' shouldn't be so rude to someone who pulled him out of hell. Of course he wouldn't be 'Dean' if he would act any different and Chuck has to smile at the characters antics while he writes the chapter down. 'Castiel' isn't as amused though,he goes all threatening on 'Dean's' ass. And that's the first time Chuck wonders what his character tries to do with his stepping up really close to 'Dean'... . Especially since his vessel is shorter than 'Dean' and he has to tilt his head up to be able to look him in the eye,it's not exactly threatening (except for the fact where 'Castiel' is an angel and probably really could throw 'Dean' back into the pit).
And after that Chuck starts looking for it,and he finds it; 'Castiel' watching 'Dean' while he sleeps,or looking at him like he wants nothing more than to cuddle 'Dean' better when he couldn't stop his mother making the deal and of course the hand print of ownership...
He writes it down as he dreams it. Partly because he thinks their interactions can be read as totally innocent (he can't be sure though,'cause he definitely can't see them that way anymore) and partly because he knows enough about the hardcore fans of his books to know they wouldn't mind. Should his writing be picked up again they would just love the little hints at more between 'Dean' and 'Castiel'.For some reason most girls seemed to think,and the 'Supernatural' fans made no difference there, that a man being in love with another man was the cutest thing ever. Cuter than kittens even (,he doesn't know about puppies though). Which surely explains why half of the fanbase thought that 'Sam' and 'Dean' were doing it. Sometimes his ans really surprised and disgusted Chuck. Just because 'Sam' and 'Dean' stare longingly into each others eyes,check out each others bodies,probably have wet dreams starring each other and continually give up their own life to save their brothers as well as the fact that neither had been in a relationship ever since they took off together at Stanford doesn't mean they're doing each other!
So the fangirls may think it's cute but Chuck is starting to think it's hot(and maybe a little cute). He's also starting to question his sexuality.
Chuck also knows about fanfiction.
Stories in which the fans borrow his characters to make them do the strangest things.
And so,in a dreamless week,Chuck decides to try this kind of writing out,to help 'Dean' and 'Castiel' get together.
He totally plans on posting it too,making 'Castiel' out to be an OMC. Which,technically;true.
As he often did, Castiel showed up at Chuck's while he was out. Keen to read the newest words the prophet had written.
As luck wanted it,what he picked up was a page of Chuck's freshly printed out fanfiction.
“CasCasCas,” Dean repeatedly chants,holding on to his love as the angel rode him like a wild stallion. They looked at each other,devotion and eternal love shining out of their eyes. They reached completion at the same time,another sign of their deep connection. As they lie side by side,still holding hands like they had during this joining of their souls, Dean rolled over so that he could look his angel deep in the eyes. “Castiel,” the hunter says ”marry me?” Cas is just speechless....
Indeed he is.
