What A Novel-la Idea
A while ago I had an idea to do a series of mini-novels (I believe these are referred to as novellas). I sort of liked the idea of how a novel is equal to a film and a running series of novellas was more like a TV series, each novella representing a weekly episode. I didn't think much more on the idea; I just got on with my next novel. After all, novels are what I like to write. Short stories take too much discipline ;)
But when I got to the end of the "Olimpia Valley" re-write I was sad at the thought of having to edit down the book. Especially when the world I'd set it in actually needed more pages to bleed onto rather than less. Late last night I remembered my idea with the novellas and have since decided "Olimpia Valley" will be my novella guinea-pig :)
I'm not sure how many novellas will be in the series yet, but probably about fifteen or so. As to whether I'll wait around for a publisher or use LULU again, I haven't yet decided. I'll get the first one completed and see how it goes from there, I think. At the moment I am very excited by the idea!
