August 2011 ami-along
Yet another awesome month has passed, full of cute critters of the yarny persuasion, and with pride we can look back on them, and also look forward to our versions of the next theme, which is
the zodiac, especially the Chinese!
To kick this month off with a good start I've collected some pictures of zodiac amis I found inspirational, a few links to free and/or to be purchased patterns
These inspirational cuties
can be obtained
here(not free, sorry)
Crochet Kitten has this wonderful free zodiac series, check out her stuff over at Ravelry:
http://www.ravelry.com/designers/crochet-kitten
Here's a lovely desing by ZodiacGurumi, although they are not free:
boys and girls dressed as the chinese zodiac animals!
Or here's a wonderful - albeit not free -
pattern collection of all those lovely signs inpersonated by a wee boy or girl!
Or you could modify
this free pattern quite similar to those above.
For those of you into anime, this theme calls for some Fruits Basket related amis - like
this Kyo (I think he was made out of a huge square and a flat head decreasing as it goes down - it's not so hard to make up something like that!)
Or you can just take the theme and run wild with it. Picking a random animal from the zodiac signs would be one way to go.. and we all love cuddly animals, right? :D
But in case you might find this topic not to your liking, you can still ami-along with
anything that has teeth!
Now you don't have to fret, this includes literally ANYTHING that has teeth. If I could pick I'd love to see random objects adorned with teeth! Harry Potter tips us off with a few stuff: Fanged Frisbees are popular gadgets in Hogwarts, but they also have a ferocious book about keeping mythical creatures... and then we have our usual stuff like
dragons,
Remember the Ragnarök dragon from last post? This is a smaller sister called Shangri-la, also a
free pattern.
This one is minute but cute.
And here's a
Charizard,
Krambambuli and the improved
fierce little one dinos (like
chiwaluv 's fresh bunch (just to mention something recently made by our own people)
sharks,
(inspirational pic only)
Here is a cute version and
another - FREE - for a like.
exotic fish like
this (couldn't find a pattern - anyone feeling up to the challenge of making something for this heading?)
walruses (now those have teeth!)
this and
that are lovely, but not free
but Ravelry provides us with an obtainable one
here and Emmyknits has
this lovely knit and FREE pattern
Or you could just take a seal pattern and adorn it with teeth, for example
this (ain't it cute? XD and free!) or
this (squee-tastic and free, too - by our lovely
sayga )
chesire cats
I've found a few freehanded versions, and I bet we can come up with our own in no time - there are tons of cat patterns to alter, after all... but here are the inspirationals:
or
by Gigglestuff (would you look at that? Soooo cuuuute!)
I could only find one pattern but it's for $$
here - but it's very realist
Domo-kun (FREE pattern)
Raving Rabbids< also a FREE pattern
and even buck teeth count!
so here's a
squirrel to tip you off: (yet again free for a like)
or a
beaver (tiny, cute, FREE) and this is a
finger puppet version:
Check out this
tiny rabbit, it's really quick to make amd precious, too:
or any other domestic animal (dearbitsy has a series of this sort)
Really, anything counts here. Seeing a crocheted cog would rock, though. Or a zipper.
(by WooWork)
Or just a giant tooth - come on, don't you want to give your tooth fairy something nice to cuddle with? Like this
pillow.
Heck, folks, anything goes, so take the theme and run with it!
