June 2011 ami-along
Why yes, it's that time of the month again! :D We have been all hyped up about the future and bedazzled by the sea, and we will continue to do so, as the delayed amis roll in here... but now it's time to delve into a brand new topic:
VIDEO GAMES or MINI-ME
Or how about combining the two? Like making a mini-you in your favorite character's garbs? Just imagine, the possibilities! Here are a few cuties to inspire you in the fandom of
video games
First off, let's honor our very own artists, like
moons_creations for her wondrous works, let's collectively drop by her blog and read the pages dog-eared, shall we? She's among the best creators I've seen, and definitely the one for inspiration.
Here is another artist Treadhunter, who has the most incredibly cute humanoid amis - check out her blog
here.
This Etsy store
here is full of cuties by Lady Lindsay, also worth to look at.
Then, there is the wonder fo DeviantArt, where one can find stuff like
*
Luke, a character from the video game "Tales of the Abyss" by BunnieBard
* Isaac Clarke form "Dead Space" - look at all that minute detail! Marvellous work...
OR here's the fandom of Portal, and some free playset cube and Nell patterns by Nerdigurumi:
http://nerdigurumi.com/2011/05/portal-2-playset.html#more-1297 And, of course, we have seen the doubled joy of creating a figure dressed as another figure - What is she babbling about? Why, Sackboy, of course! We may remember that by clicking the tag "sackboy" we'll end up seeing a ton of our own community members' wonderful creations! Just to highlight a few, we had
moons_creations to thank for the cutest chibi Sackboy pattern EVER
chiwaluv do her magic with these guys:
and many more (just picking favorites here!)
marvelled at the stuff
causticmuse made - GIR, for example:
or this guy from Torment
and
Lobo,
Azkaban,
Reno, and
some more - just to pick a few, and also
uktena,
chibirisuchan ,
sarah_mascara ,
gloomcookie613 and
jumnji worked wonders. To brush up on these memories, I recommend our tags -
like this.To get the basic pattern - if you haven't already - check
this place for the PDF of the knitted version:
But check out
this tutorial by Golden JellyBeam of making Link Sackboy, which is my personal favorite. Do check out her channel, she makes amazing little critters, and the pattern is free! (For a written variety, you might want to try
this. )
And last but not least, for those favoring a milder kind of entertainment, there's the crew of "Plants versus Zombies" as an inspirational piece - sadly, I could not find a free pattern for these, but they can't be that hard I guess....
Or, like what we've seen by
theknittycat 's needles, Funghi from Touch Detective
The Pokemon bunch is cute as well, as seen in Ah!Creations' blog full of patterns - I don't even attempt to highlight some, though she has more than meets the eye here:
http://shedko247.wordpress.com/ And if our juices aren't flowing already, the mini self-portraits will definately get you going.
I mean, look at all these pretties:
This one here is so full of possibilities, I just love the the doll-y quality it offers:
http://byhookbyhand.blogspot.com/2009/07/one-of-things-ive-really-wanted-to-do.html Did I mention how I love chibis? These roly-poly tiny gals sent me on a squee spree... and even though the free pattern is in Russian, Google translate will help you to get started on your very own soon. (just click the pics)

Or Abby - with free pattern! - by Crochet ninja here:
http://a-crochet-ninja.blogspot.com/2009/02/abby-from-ncis.html (she's got an adorable Link, too!)
Here's Howl, for our male audience in dire need of a scheme:
http://dlfsblog.blogspot.com/2010/11/free-pattern-howl.html (check out this craftster, her baby unicorns are to die for, too!)
Of course, the obligatory basic patterns must be mentioned here. Such are the
Amigurumi Dude we all know, the handsome
Little Emo by Suncatchereyes (sorry I forgot what your name here is), or
this basic pattern, complete with inspirational pics and varieties.
And if you don't mind spending, Ravelry (registration needed!) is just the place for patterns. Look at
Suzette or
Elsbeth, just to point out a few.
Well, I definitely gathered quite a few inspirational pieces to my already bulging to-do list - I hope you did so, too. Either way, please share what you've made - eyecandy makes everyone's day better.
ETA: sorry for the multiple pings, guys, but you do deserve the honor. Again, my apologies if 've forgotten you - I'm not unerring, sadly.
