I wanted to make him look a little bit more 'gentle' but I agree that the ears should be smaller and more forward...

With the front legs, by positioning, I mean just straightening the position that they're standing in, not placing them differently on the body. You know, pulling them straighter? Sorry, can't think how to explain it ... manually manipulating them. Not crocheting them differently, or sewing them on differently. Is that as clear as mud? heh heh

To make him look less submissive I would second the stance. You want him to be standing tall and looking alert (ears forward).
He is really awesome. I also was going to suggest brushing him to make him fuzzy, so she really did beat me to everything I was going to say! :P
