Wolves at the door

Jun 12, 2009 10:02

I'm back. Have been happily playing with my hooks and seeing what I can do.

At the moment, my pride rests on my silly idea to dress up a wolf in, well, sheep's clothing.

I've made a couple of snakes, too, from the Lion Brand pattern, which are adorable and easy and fun.

Oh. And I said I'd try to write up a pattern for my spirit guys (that I'm now calling Mooddrakes, thanks to the suggestion that they looked like Mandrakes). Bear in mind that I have never written a pattern before, and I don't know if this one is follow-able or not. It hasn't been tested, but, if anyone wants to give it a shot, feel free! :)

I use a size 00 steel hook for mine. Choose your own size and yarn.

Head:
1. ch 2, sc 6 in second chain from hook
2. inc around (2 sc in each sc) - 12 sc
3. sc around
4. (sc in 2 sc, inc) around - 16 sc
5. sc around
6. (sc in 3 sc, inc) around - 20 sc
7. sc around
8. (sc in 3, dec) around - 16 sc
9. (sc in 2, dec) around - 12 sc
Add safety eyes and stuff.
10. dec around and finish off. - 6 sc

Body:

1. ch 9, sc in second ch from hook and 7 more, 2 sc in last chain, sc in bottom of chain for 7 sc, sc in starting ch and join with sl - 18 sc
2. ch 1, sc 8, (inc), sc 8, (inc) and join with sl - 20 sc
3. ch 1, (sc 4, inc) around and join with sl - 24 sc
4. ch 1, sc around -- do NOT join -- 24 sc
5. sc in 2, dec - 18
6. sc around
7. sc in 7, dec - 16
8-10. sc around
11. sc in 7, inc - 18
12. sc, dec around - 12
Stuff!
13. dec around - 6
Finish off.

Arms (make 2):

1. ch 2, sc 6 in second chain from hook
2. inc around (2 sc in each sc) - 12 sc
3. sc around
4. (sc in 2 sc, inc) around - 16 sc
5. sc around
6. (sc in 2, dec) around - 12 sc
7. sc around

Stuff! Yes, really. Only the bottom part of the arms are stuffed. :)

8. (sc, dec) around - 8 sc
9-11. sc around
12. (sc, dec) around - 6 sc
13. sc around

Finish off

Feet:
1. ch 2, sc 6 in second chain
2. inc around - 12
3. sc, inc around - 18
4. sc in back loops
5. sc around
6. sc in 7, dec twice - 16
7. sc in 2, dec - 12
8. sc around
Stuff.
9. sc, dec - 8
10. sc around
11. sc in 3, inc - 10
12. sc around

add more stuffing if you like and finish off.

Stitch parts together, naturally.

Cut 6 lengths of yarn in your choice of color, root at the top of the head and separate plys for wacky hair.

Off to work on more stuff for the shop.

Enjoy!
