So I have been working on a Katamari for a while now, for my best friend's birthday. She and I are HUGE fans of the video games. But of course, I need to put my own spin on amis when I try them myself. I tried making the little knobbies more true to the video game.
My boyfriend was messing around with stop motion animation on my camera, so I thought I would take a crack at it.

Too bad it's only 3 seconds long.
I definitely plan on honing my skills and making better, prettier katamaris. Which leads me to a question. I was wondering if anyone had experience with making large balls? I tried just doubling the patterns I could find but I ended up with a ruffly, flat piece before halfway through. This ball is about 4" tall, because I frogged it so many times and started over. I also doubled up on yarn just to be sure because I was getting really frustrated.
My original plan was to make a ball 6" or more. I was wondering how to make a nice, really round ball from two halves, even with a #4 yarn and an I hook. Does anyone know of any pattern I could use for future reference?
Thanks in advance!
One more thing. While watching my boy mess with stop animation, I thought of how cool it would be to crochet something bit by bit and capture it with the camera. This reminded me of a stop motion animation I watched like nearly ten years ago. It's called "Ball of Wool" by Nikolai Serebryakov. Sorry if you have seen this already. It's just so fantastic and sad, I wanted to share with anyone who hasn't seen it already. I also think it's funny that everything looks crocheted to me. ;^p
