help!

Hi everyone! I'm new to this community and to amigurumi, and I need some help! I started making amis with the Amigurumi World book by Ana Paula Rimoli, and I have had no trouble with that. But now I'm trying to make the ninja from Creepy Cute Crochet (I've seen many of you post your creations from patterns from that book), and for some reason her ( Read more... )

I learned in the same pattern as you. And I'm gonna say this: I barely even try and use Creepy Cute's words, only the visual pattern. The book "Beyond the Square" or something like that (about different shape motifs) taught me to read visual patterns. That, coupled with word patterns, allowed me to make some of the Creepy Cute stuff. Otherwise, I do agree, that it is a hard book to use as a beginner.

I second the recommendation for Beyond the Square! There are so many cool things you can do with those motifs, and it not only teaches you how to read a visual pattern, but has a brief section on how to make your own visual pattern. Very cool book. Totally worth the $10 I paid for it on the sale shelf ;)
