Christmas isn't blue or silver. Christmas is red, green and gold. It's a roaring fireplace and presents wrapped with looped bows. It's waking up to snow outside your window, and sitting down with your family to have cranberry sauce with your turkey. Am I the only one who still holds this idea?
I realise I haven't written in this for a while. Everything exciting that has happened has already passed. But the last few weeks have been moving on pretty well. Seeing iForward, Russia was great. They played an ace set, and did a rare enchore. It was also nice that they recognised me when I went to speak to them after the gig. That kind of made me night.
It was also great aswell 'cos the Pigeon Detectives were supporting. Didn't find out till I was told by Hannah and Jen on the door. They didn't find out till Whiskas phoned them up the night before. Went to speak to Dave straight away. 'What are you doing here?' 'No, what are you doing here?' Etc. Caught up with Matt as well... who offered me a drink from their rider. It was great. It was like Leeds in a night... just a shame you lot weren't there.
Sam's 18th was pretty great as well. Got to catch up with everyone again. I like coming home. I mean... I like where I am now. But it's just not the same as being at home. Got to hang out with Emma and Kay, and then Emma during the day as well. Miss those cats.
I'm in the middle of an essay. It's kind of hard... but I think it'll be pretty good when it's finished. I'm even quoting Thomas Carlyle in it.
I've decided that 'Picaresque' by The Decemberists is one of my favourite albums of all time.
The NME have made Alex Turner of the Arctic Monkeys 'the coolest person of the year'. Now I'm sorry, but even Arctic Monkeys fans have to admit that there's not a single cool thing about that boy. What, are Northern accents in this season? Oh. They are. Sorry.
I've lost all faith in the music press. I'll put a tenner on them making 'Bet You Look Good on the Dancefloor' the 'single of the year' next week. Maybe they'll have a bootleg copy of their demo as album of the year.
I'll stick with Sigur Rós, thanks.
