Yearly post?
So hello. It's been a while. There are four people in my family now. That's been true for about 13 months. Still in the same job. Had an interview for another job last fall--made it to the final round and lost out to someone who was probably a better fit. Just as well, really. I applied for it because I couldn't not apply when the job description was so well suited to my interests and expertise, but I didn't actually want to change jobs amidst the second child's first year. It was very different than the first child's first year. Partly because two children are exponentially harder than one, and partly because the second child is a much harder baby than the first one was, and partly because being a gestational parent is way different than being a non-gestational one (shocking revelation, I know). But I'm muddling through. I was even keeping up with Livejournal for a while there. Not lately, though. Mostly I'm on Facebook. It's a poor excuse for friendship, but I'm hopeful that I can revive some of the relationships that fell by the wayside when I got swallowed by parenthood this past year. My grand plan is to start with an outing to whatever the Shakespeare show on the Common is this year. Step one: Figure out what the performance dates are. Step two: Figure out which of them I can attend. Step three: Figure out when a critical mass of friends can go with me. Step three is of course the wild card. I didn't mean for my social life beyond parenthood to disappear. But somehow it did. Like I said, it's been a while. So hello.
