this is my fly-by-night, oh crap is it really that late?, my it's been awhile since i posted... post.

so. here we go.

nano: wrote a snippet of about 1075 words. doubt it'll actually be *used* as it was also a challenge piece, but it's worth a shot. also got more written on sanpit than i've written in awhile. darn me and my lack of writing last month. guess it took having a decent weekend to get it going.

decent weekend: yes! it was. rented a car. had dinner with catherine and kate (SHUT UP I KNOW IT'S BEEN AGES) at spinelli's on friday. then went to the ingrid michaelson concert (guest: matthew perryman johnson) at headliners. granted, i got totally drenched in the rain. but it was a pretty cool concert. i'd never been to one before (zacchir's band doesn't count). she's ridiculously funny, and he's very talented. sounds vaguely of jeff buckley or rufus wainwright and i bought both of the cds he was selling. totally got to blow off karaoke because i'm still chickenshit.
worked on hw (more later), took my granny shopping today. then was able to sneak off to dani's house for chili and cupcakes (and accosting by dogs, and watching hocus pocus... which was terribly predictable and broke my logic), then went to see Law Abiding Citizen (which wasn't nearly as good as i hoped, and also wasn't Boondock Saints 2, which i really, really wanted to see, but is only out in limited release). got home, wrote. all in all, this weekend's on an up. even with the homework.

hw: well, sorta. am about a third into a midterm paper on defining african dance through the language defining oral traditions. have quotes to support my statements... just haven't actually written the paper yet. :( that and the amount of research i did on the napoleonic code for french civ are my ups. ! my downs include the fact that i've now skipped maybe 6 discussion boards (thus class participation) for my intro to pan african studies class. he's gonna fail me., even if i'm terribly good on all the tests (A or A- on all three so far). ugh. gotta fix it. maybe he'll give me like 10% instead of the entire percentage for what i've missed.
speaking of what i've missed. yeah. i blew off two papers in two separate classes. and i'm late on a third. i blame the wisdom teeth. but it also means that tomorrow and monday i have to whip out 8 pgs on african dance, 500 words in french about an imaginary character, an oral presentation on the napoleonic code (in french), memorize a french poem of over 14 lines... and this doesn't count what i wanted to do during november.

plans: yeah, i signed up for mini_nanowrimo, nanowrimo, brigits_flame, lj idol (go vote for me, polls are up and i'm not rocking it yet!)... and i've got school to do. i r smrt, yo.

classes: registered for spring. am taking translation, senior capstone (wtheck it is, i dunno), cultural perspectives (humanities course that's a prereq for graduating) and enjoyment of theatre (ooo. maybe i'll get to go to a play)... oh. and intro to francophone world. somehow, my senior year always ends up being more work and less play. i kinda hate my life. on the bright side, i think i've got my after graduation plans figured out. i'm pretty sure that businesses will approve of my taking a year off after college for religious ministry, yeah? it's for the common good.

all in all, i'm ok healthwise. and i'm not dying yet. school's school, as always. work needs to be more about getting everything else done. i'm spending too much time catching up on tv at work. i'm just now realizing i'm a responsible adult and that's scary! but. hey. i'm working it out.

will endeavor to update this thing more as time progresses. may just whine about writing for the next month, but that's that. should also get back on updating my site. i moved things and haven't actually fixed it yet. :( it's on my list.
