SHOCK OF SHOCKS: I have something to post about.
Mainly I'm just freaking out a little. One of my classmates (my lab partner, in fact) is a refugee from Uganda. We've gotten fairly close over the course of the semester, and I think she now views me as her nice American savior. Which can be a bit overwhelming.
Long story short: most of her family was murdered, and she was smuggled out of Uganda. She found out a year or two ago that she has four living siblings still in Uganda, and has been trying to get them to the US. She has a church (or several churches) that are completely willing to pay for everything, but she needs to find four sponsors (one for each sibling) that are willing to sign forms claiming financial responsibility for said siblings. She hasn't been able to find people. So now I am trying to find people.
First, I realize that I need to find out more information: how long is the sponsor signing on for financial responsibility? Is the money REALLY AND TRULY 100% there? Is it very illegal to do this? What are the rules? Etc.
At this particular moment, it is seeming a bit overwhelming.
