Friday night after carpooling home I managed to squeeze in a couple of movies. I saw Wanted again, and then caught a showing of Mamma Mia!. Both were really entertaining and how can you pass up James McAvoy shirtless and glistening? How, I ask you?!
The ABBA movie was entertaining and I was surprised to note that Pierce Brosnan's singing voice sounds remarkably like Mark Knopfler! My Mom also went to see the movie this weekend and was disappointed in a couple of things, having seen it live in Las Vegas and also live somewhere else. She didn't catch the comment about Aphrodite's Love Spring (and thought it was stupid) and didn't like the "Take a Chance on Me" bit at the end either. Having not seen a live production and having previously owned ABBA Albums on cassette tape, I found it enjoyable.
Saturday I had made plans to catch The Dark Knight with
ghstintheshl since he knew I'd be seeing it at some point this weekend. He was relatively on time, but we still ended up sitting in about the 6th row on the right hand side of the theater. What an amazing movie! I'll be honestly surprised if Heath Ledger doesn't win a post-humous Oscar for his performance. The acting, character development, action and cinematography were top notch! Even though the movie was almost 3 hours long I wanted it to last longer! I think I'm going to forewarn my mom about the appearance of Harvey Dent after the accident though, she's not into that type of gore/horror.
After the movie we went to lunch at the Lloyd Center Red Robin. Parking was a nightmare and their lot was teeny. I managed to get around the block a couple of times and had hit it perfectly (and this crew of about 12 hispanic guys was waving me in to an open spot when someone pulled around me into the lot and stole the spot. Next another car left, but it turned out that they had been in a handicapped spot. Shortly after pulling in and realizing that problem another vehicle pulled out and I snagged it. Lunch was good, had the teriyaki Chicken burger.
On my way home I decided to take the plunge and buy a rosemary plant. I got a great square planter in a grey-green that matches the shape of the sandstone ones I have in my back yard. Got a decent plant and popped it in there. I had EXACTLY the right amount of potting soil left and fertilized it well before placing the plant in the soil. At the moment it's on my front "porch" and I'll likely be moving it somewhere else in the front or back yards.
Sunday was small housekeeping tasks. Did two loads of laundry, changed the bedding, scooped the litterbox, emptied the trash, emptied the dishwasher and reloaded and ran another load, vacuumed the den, watered the plants outside, put a bunch of food into the pantry (off the counter) and did more paperwork decluttering. This time I sorted and cleared out two file cabinet drawers and ended up with one big paper grocery bag of straight recycling and two garbage bags, plus two plastic grocery bags of shredded stuff.
Didn't finish everything on my list, but have far less to do before my folks come stay over this weekend. And with water aerobics two nights this week, a work party on Wednesday and the going away party for
crankycatlady on Thursday, it's promising to be a very full week!
