11. The Deadliest Strain - Jan Coffey - 389 pages. The book follows several main characters as a deadly virus appears to spreading. First there are random outbreaks of a sudden illness that kills quickly and quickly starts decomposing the bodies. The search for who started this possible terrorist attack crosses the globe and ends up in Iran and Afghanistan. Who let this super-illness loose? How can they stop it? It was a tight, suspenseful and enjoyable read.

12. Bangkok 8 - John Burdett - 318 pages. Set in Bangkok, Thailand, the main character is a cop in Sector 8, who gets assigned to follow an American military man. His target is killed and thus an investigation into who did it begins. As they follow lead after lead it quickly becomes clear that this case is much larger than they thought. The American FBI becomes involved in the investigation. Prostitution, police corruption, gangs, drugs, jade trade and more are themes of this quick-paced thriller.
