101. Spirit Gate: Book One of Crossroads - Kate Elliott - 445 pages. This series is in a different world than her Crown of Stars series. It features a world with several different races with different traditions, fashions and other disparities. There also happen to exist giant eagles that allow people to ride in harnesses under them as they fly. These riders are called Reeves, and are kind of the overall police or justices of the world. There are vast journeys, and the novel follows several characters as they progress through the saga. It is kind of a dense read, and I found myself re-reading paragraphs over and over as I'd just get bogged down in the story. I love some of the characters and many parts of the "world" but it was too slow in parts.
