Water Aerobics

So, per the suggestions of my doctor to find some kind of uber-low-impact exercise to help me in my weight-loss goals and for general health, I have started attending water aerobics.

The sessions are at Parkrose High School Community Center Pool, and are four days a week from 7-8 PM. So far I've gone Monday and Wednesday and plan to continue attending on those days. It's a large group of folks 20-30 or so and the instructor on Monday and Wednesdays is a kick.

I'm getting in the swing of it, and can keep up with almost everything except some of the arm lifts/movements. I've been an avid walker, so my legs are pretty good, but I haven't done any calisthenics or arm exercises for a very long time. At the start of Wednesday's session, my arms were still hurting from Monday! However, today, they are pretty good, so if I can do some weights at home or just upper body motions on the off days, it should keep me in good stead.

I'm really excited about this as it's something I can do to improve my health, burn calories and get in better overall shape. I'll fill in with some of my yoga, pilates, walking or other exercises or videos on Fridays or Saturdays just to keep the activity going. I eventually could work up to four days a week of water aerobics, but that might be a little harsh as they would be all in a row.
