39. A Necessary Evil - Alex Kava - 477 pages. The central character is Maggie O'Dell, a medical examiner involved in a couple cases, but the other characters are also well developed. The two cases are a decapitating murderer, and someone killing priests. Plot is interesting and intricate and kept me reading straight through!
40. In Plain Sight - Tara Taylor Quinn - 377 pages. Main character in this one is a prosecuter working on a prominent case against a white supremacist organization. Several interlocking storylines keep it moving and the hints dropped aren't too plain, so there are some shocks as the story goes along.
