east bay hike/swim

I have been hurting for some place in the east bay where I can go jump in some water without having to pay a fee or deal with tons of people. I know that a secret swimming hole or remote pond is unlikely, but I thought I would put out the call to see if anyone has any experience in these things.

A nice long hike with a floating in cool water reward doesn't seem like to much to ask for, but I guess maybe it is for the east bay.
