Theme of the Week.

I have a "terrible" habit of picking out random boys when they first show up (when no one knows them) and sticking with them (once they get some attention). My "rookies" aren't rookies anymore! (Clayton Kershaw, Andy LaRoche, Evan Longoria, Jacoby Ellsbury, etc.) Without tooting my own horn, I guess I'm pretty good at picking them, and they grow up fast! But I've got one here that's still considered a rookie, so y'all can meet him:

Blake DeWitt should be the starting third baseman for the Dodgers now with Casey Blake out, but he's still down in New Mexico, in triple-A. (He was going to be the starter, but then we @%#&*$ traded for Casey Blake and he was sent down, and has yet to be seen again. Any day now I'm going to hear he's called up, I'm sure.) He's not the best player the game has ever seem, but man, does this kid try. He gives his everything every time he's out there and refuses to give up on any play or at bat. And he gets results. You've gotta love someone that shows that much heart. He can play any infield position (Nomar taught him short), but his real home is at third (he even pitched in high school and enjoyed it).

Well, there's my first post, and a bit of cooing over my rookie. Hi!
