My whole life I've been a sports fan - played them, watched them, and rooted for all my home teams in every sport. Baseball was actually my favorite sport when I was a kid, way back before we even had a Major League Baseball team in Arizona. My friend and I would collect baseball cards like crazy and we adopted the Oakland Athletics as our "team" because those are the games they'd show on tv here in Phoenix back in the day! I lost interest in baseball somewhat when I started playing basketball, as that became "my sport", but then got back into it when the Diamondbacks came to Arizona in 1998. I watched games a lot, but not on a regular basis and I rarely ever went to games. Fast forward to 2007. That team was expected to do absolutely nothing and we kept proving people wrong, won the NL West and made it to the NLCS. I just absolutely fell in love with that 2007 team that had so much heart and fight. That's when I really got into baseball and became a huge D-backs fan. Then the next year in '08, I really started following baseball as a whole, decided on a whim to play fantasy baseball on mlb.com and that's when my (uh, fan-ness? yeah, I made up a word!) reached an all-time high because you follow every team you have a player on! Before, I never really watched random baseball games. Now, I will watch any and every baseball game and I just love the sport. And this year I have... watched an obscene amount of MLB Network. haha.

I love that my favorite sport has the longest season of all the others! Living in Arizona has its advantages, too.. baseball all year round with Spring Training, the regular season/playoffs, and the Arizona Fall League. :D
