Just because we're female...

...Doesn't mean that we can't love baseball for the game itself (of course, some of the guys ARE hot;)). I'm sick of the guys who act like because we ARE female, we can't know and love baseball. Anyways, what are y'all's favorite team(s)? Detroit Tigers for me, though I love the Boston Red Sox and baseball in general. :)

I've never had an issue with my reasoning for loving baseball being questioned by the majority of the guys I know. They get that I admire the majority of the players that I like because they are doing what I wish I could do for a living and are doing it well (enough). In fact, if anything I usually make fun of my boys for their man crushes on players. Then again, I think they know better than to poke at me if I happen to mention how hot and bothered long balls, high socks and Varitek's thighs get me, because I've proved myself (the fact I had to, though, sucks). I know stats, names, history and can hold my own in a conversation. The fact I've worked in baseball for two seasons and sports radio for three and had a baseball related show for one of those years also seems to help.

Come to think of it, the few times I've had issues as female baseball fan is with players themselves. I love my boys. I love hanging out with my boys. I count the hours 'til off-days so I can go drinking with them. BUT every so often there are a few that think I'm in this because I'm a player chaser and not because the guys on the team I do hang out with remind me so much of my boys back home. After all, the only reason a girl would want to work in baseball is to bang a player. It sucks but the ones who do know me love it cause those situations usually end with a swift kick in the shin and another round of beers to laugh about what just happened.

To answer your other question: I grew up in South Florida so the Marlins have always been my bbs. I became a Sox fan during Pedro's 99 season and it became an official love affair when I moved 30 minutes from Ft. Myers in '03. I also love the B-Mets since I know so many of the boys there and that was the team that gave me my first taste of the MiLB lifestyle. The team I work for now is in the same league, so as soon as I no longer get a check from them, my rooting for the Thunder is done. lol

I think for me right now is the feel of the team and area we're in. Back in Bingo it was never an issue. Everyone outside of the owners and GM's where in the 20's, so it was just like being back in school and we were all friends and they were all too busy trying to get with my roommates. I was the little sister and only once did one of the guys cross that line while we were walking back home (my place was next door to one of the player houses). But here, I guess since they are "Yankees" or what have you, they feel like girls would jump at the chance of heading home with them. And just like you said, don't flatter yourself.
