...

"AH!!!!!!"

That was not screamed with panic or fright or even anger. It was pure and utter frustration and disgust. If Jaime was listening close, he could probably hear the sounds of Momoko running about and swearing at her 'stupid comfortable futon'.

...

"Just a minute!!!!!!!"

Despite not being a frightened or shocked scream, Jaime still tensed up for a moment, but then he relaxed when he heard her voice again.

Just asleep. Nothing to worry about.

"Augh!"

Nothing to worry about? She'd missed the live blog discussion with the cast of the new show she was following! And there was supposed to be a prize giveaway!

Momoko was running her hands through her hair as she opened the door. "Jaime! I am so sorry!! I totally overslept! Come in, come in!" She reached for his arm, hesitated a moment at the action, then remembered she could touch him again, and took his sleeve to tug him inside. "I was only supposed to nap after classes today. I didn't mean to sleep so long! Sorry!"

Jaime laughed, letting her drag him in after her and enjoying the familiarity of it. "Hey, it's not a problem. I mean, I know I'm boring, I'd probably rather sleep than hang out with me, too," he teased.

Momoko eyerolled at that. "Don't be silly. I was up late last night studying for a big test today." She waited as he toed his shoes off and then led him into the main living area. It was... a little untidy. "Then I had to stay after and make up some lab work from when I was in Mexico! When I got home I was just going to lay down for a quick moment."

"Speaking of Mexico, how are your injuries?" Jaime asked, looking Momoko up and down. "No twinges or anything?"

"No twinges, no squeaks! And no complaints, unless you count the number of times I had to rewrite my report to Oracle." Momoko eyerolled and started to straighten up a small pile of papers. Unless Jaime cared about diversionary programs and reasonable alternatives to incarceration?

"Thank you for making sure that the weapons in my jacket got to her, by the way. Apparently those were new, too."

"Well, you did the hard part." Jaime shrugged. "Least I could do."

He watched her tidying for a moment, then moved over to see if there was anything he could do to help. "So it sounds like working with her might be a regular thing?"

"I'm still not sure. She said that was a test, and I totally didn't pass it since I blew up the thing I was sent to get?" Momoko blew at her bangs, slightly frustrated at that memory. "Nearly got my partner and myself killed, and caused a major public disturbance in a large populated city. But then again, she had me install a bunch of stuff on my laptop and said something about getting my account information so I can get paid, so maybe?"

She shrugged and set the papers in the binder on her desk, grinning at him. "I want to. From what I saw when I was there, she gets a lot more hero-type assignments than Ms Barbara does, so it fits with what I want to do here."

Jaime chuckled. "I'm pretty sure you don't really get how big a deal Oracle is in this world, yet," he told her with a grin. "She and I don't exactly get along sometimes, but... that doesn't mean I don't respect her. And it'd be kind of hard to miss how many other people do, too."

"A big deal in the world?" Momoko gave him a confused look. "I saw a lot of different cities on her monitors, but I just thought that she was sending people there."

"How come you don't get along?"

"Um," Jaime scratched at the back of his neck a bit sheepishly. "She's kind of bossy. By habit, I guess. She only leads the one team, but there are very few heroes who don't ask her for help when they need it, or who she doesn't help out sometimes whether they ask or not..."

Bossy.

Hmmm. Momoko tapped her cheek at that. "She's totally bossy! But I kind of think it's because she's lonely? She lives alone, apparently. Not even with Mr Alfred!"

Which had freaked Momoko out a lot. Not that her yawn just now was revealing that.

"Her team...? So Canary has teammates? oh! And where were we going again?" She headed to her wardrobe and opened the door to consider what to change into. He was in khakis and a nice shirt... she was not going out with him looking that good while she was in jean shorts and a sleeveless tee.

Jaime walked up behind her and reached over her shoulder to push the door of the wardrobe closed. "Nowhere, actually." He sounded amused. "You sound like you need some more rest."

"I'm just a little tired!" She made a pouty face over her shoulder at him.

"The nap totally helped, promise!"

"And you're going to yawn again in, what, three seconds?" Jaime shot back, teasing, and very much enjoying how... relaxed it felt.
