Stand-up can be fucking daunting. There is no feeling quite like being on stage when nothing's working. It's difficult not to get so desperate for a laugh that you get the sweats and start to REALLY thunderously embarrass yourself.

I think, for me, I have the timing and delivery but I'm not naturally a comedic writer. I need someone else to write the lines and I can make them funny.

I think it's a learned skill, like anything else: You get better through repetition. Put time in, and you get better at nearly anything.

I mean, no matter how hard I try, I'm never giving birth, but you know what I mean, I think.

I won't short-sell my own skills and say anybody can do it. It took me a while to know when a joke I've written works, and even then, you never know if it'll land until you do it for people, but I'm sure you already know that bit.
