One month down!

Hours to go on my first buy-nothing month.

The only "cheating" I did happened tonight--I bought baggies so that I could freeze Phoebe's salmon that I bought at the market Saturday. Never having learned much about how well meat keeps, I didn't want to risk wasting this stuff by letting it go another day, and running out of bags left me nothing to package it in.

I'm not beating myself up over that one.

The month overall went great! I feel like the approach I've chosen is just about the right blend of letting me buy stuff I actually need while pushing myself to change my habits. There are some things I'm antsy to buy--in particular, two sizes of tubs to finish the closet organizing I really got into over the weekend and a new kitchen drain stopper so that my drain doesn't clog up the way it has with the miserable contraption it came with. Am I a crazed consumer or what??

For the first time in ages I'm ending a month with less stuff than I started it (not only did I not acquire anything, but I sold some books and threw out some stuff that was beyond even donating, and Sunday I'll get rid of a bunch more clothes at a Naked Lady party that was originally scheduled for February). I hope to do that every month this year, but at the very least during each even-numbered one.
