I was surprised to read this morning that venerable Wall Street brokerage firm Merrill Lynch was bought by Bank of America. Merrill became another casualty in the ever-growing credit crunch. Merrill Lynch's slogan was "We make money the old-fashioned way. We earn it.". Well, you're not gonna make money now.
I sold a stock today that had lost 2/3 of its value since I inherited it in from my mom in May. Back then, Dinequity (the union formed when IHOP bought Applebee's) was 57. In four months it ahs plummeted down to 16. Time to cut the losses and stop the bleeding. I wouldn't invest in any restaurant stock.
