This Is All I Need To Feel Alive

Mar 22, 2007 11:58

So it has been a while since i posted...I wanted to on tuesday, but my internet was acting up, so i lost the post i had than....So this is a little "catch up with Weird Sisters energetic days....."

Sunday:
I think i posted my last post on sundaymorning, where i was talking about my familyday out.....well when i decided to leave the pc for what it was, a piece of junk, and walked downstairs, i found my oldest brother sitting there.........Pretty weird since i haven't seem him for around 7 years now. But he was sitting there, drinking Vodka and coke, while it was early midday. He has a bit of an alcoholic addiction. But other than that he was obvious drunk, he was quite nice, though not so much for my older sister. He could understand that me and suomi were still living at home since we were fulltime students, but he really started to bug Silly for her life. "So you only work two hours a day and the rest of the hours you are sitting at home getting fat?" It was kinda harsh, but there is some truth in his question....
Ahh well, he watched the rehearsel of the F1 race with me, he's also a Kimbola fan, though he was laughing his ass of about the red ferrarisuit. So he's kinda nice, if he wouldn't drink this much....
In the evening i lent my father's car to get to my pokernight at one of my classmates place. (Yuri is his name, and yes it's also a kind of manga) When i finally found a parking place i could actually park the mondeo in, and found the place, since i don't seem to be able to remember where people live, it turned out there were only going to be 4 of us playing the game. Actually i didn't mind, since this were the guys i knew best. I had a good time there.
The first round of poker i lost badly, but the second round i won with a massive amount of fiches. Girlpower!! Might also be because two of the boys were drinking and it was getting late, but well, i won!!
I came home around 1.......so decent.

Monday:
My college started at 12.45, but i went to it a bit earlier, since i was going ot check out if the mag-store finally had the newest rocksound, since Enter Shikari is in it. They hadn't got the mag, so i hopped on my cycle again, after talking to two cabdrivers who were standing next to it. I have no idea who it were but they started talking....anyway, plugged in my mp3-player after this and found out, my classmate Yuri didn't only put two akira albums for me to read (it's manga ay) on to it, but also 4 songs of the War Of the Worlds soundtrack. It's a bit like pink floyd, and if you know the original movie, you know how great the songs are.
College was boring as ever, as was work. CSI was ok. Sleep was even better :p

Tuesday:
My day off, i looked all day for an hotel in amsterdam to be staying after the AFI concert, but that wasn't easy. Amsterdam is even more expensive than London! Finally Jantje and i found a hotel where we could stay for 70 euro's, but it was way more expensive than we wanted.....but well, at least we don't have to sleep at central Station.
Somewhere in between my work called me to ask if i could clean at the UWV that night, which i accepted since i could use the money. (Though i hate the fucking building, it's really old, dusty and the people cleaning there are filthy) It was storming, so i decided to take the train after all. I arrived a bit early to be at work, so i dropped into the mag-store at the station....still no Rocksound......a bit pissed i entered the Free Record shop (and no the records aren't free, sadly) I looked at the H for The Horrors, which they didn't have, a bit automatically i looked at the E, not expecting to find Enter Shikari there, but suddenly i had the special edition of Take To The Skies in my hands. With DVD and two pads of Stickers! I had to buy it!!!. It's fricking amazing, but i will tell more about it later.

Wednesday:
The most dullest day ever. Jantje and i decided to fill the two hours we had in between two classes with another class, we were going to have today (thursday) so we would be free today (thursday) but it was only talk, talk, talk untill 4 pm, after which i went to Jantje's place to drink some tea before i went to work. At work one of the woman working their looked at me and said: "I love the combination of those striped socks and those white shoes" Should i be alarmed when a 40-year old woman tells me this? (Actually, last week i was wearing the brightest pair of pink stockings to go along with my fingerlessgloves and elvis-shirt, and one of my classmates suddenly bursted out: "You're so cool Jolanda, i would never dare to wear that." I just hope it was a compliment)
After work i went home, saw a movie with Ashton Kutcher and Britanny Murphy, where i forgot the name of, went upstairs and slapped the Enter Shikari DVD in my player. Ergo: 20 minues of drooling about Rou, and i'm pretty sure i saw him halfnaked but it's pretty hard to see, since the guy seems to be running from camera's. Shyness? I don't know, but those eyes.....

Today:
Quite relaxed, actually. I woke up at 11 or so, feeling completely rested. Had Breakfast and hopped into the bathroom, where an heartbreaking mewing filled my ears. When i looked down at the window, i saw Woody standing underneath it, looking pretty much like he was standing outside in a storm (which, strangely enough, he was :p) So after i put on some clothes, i went outside, collected the mail and the grey cat, who jumped out of my hands as soon as he saw Saartje, who also wanted to get in. In other words: I was chasing Woody, who was chasing Saartje, trying not to drop all of the mail. Well Saartje got into hiding and i grabbed Woody in his neck, after which i trew him in the shelter. Bad kitty.
Now i'm sitting behind the PC, again finding out the superb musical taste of our sweet Estonian friend. And crying along with the Enter Shikari songs...

Enter Shikari - Take To The Skies                      Review.
I put the album in my cd-player, expecting a lot of screaming and raving, since that was what the songs were i already had and which i had seen on YouTube.....But it took my by surprise. Of course their are still the rave-kinda songs "Anything Can Happen In The Next Half Hour", "Mothership" "Ok, Time For Plan B" But i think that only 40 percent of Rou's singing actually is the screaming..
First of all, the album contains 11 real songs, but it has 6 other songs, which are short instrumental parts, most of the time introducing the song to come. There's actually a lot of synths going on, giving it a bit of psychadelic taste.
Actually, i thought i had THE versions of some of the songs already, but it turned out that the songs i had were different from the ones on the album. A lot more synths, more guitar....
Actually there are a few songs which made me cry.......and it's hard to say why. Some of them are just so.....emotional.......longing....undescribely beautiful. "Today Won't Go Down in History" and "Adieu" are like this. Chris' voice is just sweet and Rou's singing voice.......Wow! That a guy who can scream like a real grunter can actually have such a pure voice, amazing.
It's hard to describe the feeling of this album. It's moshing sometimes, great synth/kaoss sound, lovely voices. Music you can rave on, but also songs which will speak to your heart. All of you, aks me for songs, or even better buy the album. Since it's one 17-song long epos of modern rock. They truly are the future of Brittish rockmusic.

My favourite song (at the moment):

Adieu (The video is made by me, mostly lyrics and pictures though not as many from Enter Shikari. More sweet pictures and nonsense from me, of course. I think the last part is the best of the video, though the whole song is great. If you love me, watch the whole thing!)

life, boring, review, video, rou, take to the skies, enter shikari
