so this weekend marks the beginning of my last week here. i've finally adjusted to this place, and now it's time to go.
the dogs barking at night don't bother me, i've gotten used to the crowded daladalas (12-passenger vans with 30 people crammed on it at a time), i don't mind the smoke and the dirt as much, and it's actually really relaxing not to have a cell phone or jump every time one rings. kendra and i have gotten into a nice routine and it's pretty comfortable here.
the only thing i'm looking forward to is not having to go to placement. even though i enjoy the children and i feel like i'm learning a lot, it gets pretty boring. there aren't enough chores for 5 people so we end up sitting around for at least an hour each day.
the cool thing on friday was when this youth group that one of the volunteers at st. lucia's has been working with came to visit. they sing songs about the social and societal impact of HIV/AIDS on their community and educate people in the community about the virus. i think i'm going to get them to go to the school where kendra is working. i'm excited. oops. out of time again. i'll write more later.
