Beware something popping up called vista internet security that looks like an anti-virus program*
My computer got a massive EVIL virus this past Sunday that took me 10 hours to finally remove. I'm still not 100% convinced that it's gone, but that might be the paranoia talking. It is a trojan horse that turns off your anti-virus software and then prevents you from being able to open almost all programs.
AND IT IS EVIL!!
I have a friend who fixes computers for a living (who told me that I should have called him, but who thinks of that amidst a panic @midnight) who is recommending that I reformat my hard drive. I may go with this option, but I'm not sure. And after I finished everything and was heading to bed finally, every joint in my body was literally cracking. OY. EVIL!!!
In all my years, this was my first computer virus.
* This virus call can be named Vista or XP or Win7 and Microsoft was basically no help as it's quite volatile and this was the 2012 version (the newest) and I wasn't willing to spend $99 for Microsoft to remotely connect and guarantee a fix.
