Maybe updating LJ should be on my list of priorities for 2009, but I honestly can't muster up the enthusiasm to update this site aside from randomxcore.

Also, having some "religious persecution" themed dreams. Like, I always curse in a church, some person gets cheesed off and tries to get me in trouble/killed...I wonder if it means anything?

As for "resolutions?" I'm procrastinating on those a bit. Maybe I'll have some drafted out by today. Maybe not. Let's see if I kept with any from last year...

  • Try to stop thinking about her, She Who Will Not Be Named I would say pass, a couple of times, she's popped into my head, but overall she's become less of a component in my life

  • Try to expand my social circle onlineMy social circle shrunk even more this year, in mid-July stopped going on AIM completely, fail
  • Try not to curb my emotions as much in real life/be more proactive fail
  • Use the phone moreEven more paranoid about using the phone now, fail
  • Try not to let my overactive imagination fill in the blanks for what I believe people's personalities are going to be Managed to ruin a potential friendship because of this, fail

  • Trust my instincts I'd say I'm about the same now as I was last year, N/A
  • Never “study” with Sherry Not living in the same building really put a damper on things, pass

  • Try to get more involved with extracurricular activities/actually make a list and stick to it fail

  • Stay organized and on top of things I failed so hard at this it's pathetic

  • So, I mostly failed...old habits die hard.

And, now, for the ol' Year-End

    1. What did you do in 2008 that you'd never done before?
Go to a different country sans parents.

    2. Did you keep your new years' resolutions, and will you make more for next year?
Not really...I can't verify my "real" resolutions but I suspect I failed with those as well. I think, regardless, I'll give it another shot this year.

    3. Did anyone close to you give birth?
Sort of...not close to me, though? My mom made a big deal about the baptism, etc. but I'm not a fan of children or baptisms so I stayed as far away as possible.

    4. Did anyone close to you die?
    No.

    5. What countries did you visit?
    United Kingdom.

    6. What would you like to have in 2009 that you lacked in 2008?
    Willpower?

    7. What date from 2008 will remain etched upon your memory, and why?
July 2, 2008...it was probably the best day of my life.

    8. What was your biggest achievement of the year?
Being in the top ten percent of my freshman class?

    9. What was your biggest failure?
Just letting my family situation continue to deteriorate.

    10. Did you suffer illness or injury?
I had a nasty bacterial infection in my left foot for the first couple of weeks so I didn't get in when everyone was bonding. I will blame that for the failure of my social life this semester.

    11. What was the best thing you bought?
Accessories from Love Hetty and Dave!

    12. Whose behavior merited celebration?
I always default to my professors but I want to say Gabe because seriously. Consistently cramazing.

    13. Whose behavior made you appalled and depressed?
My own, often; at times my sister's.

    14. Where did most of your money go?
Food. I'm such a glutton. Nomnomnom.

    15. What did you get really, really, really excited about?
Whenever I got an e-mail from Ian.

    16. What song will always remind you of 2008?
I want to say because it was apparently the "Summer Song of 2008" ~L.E.S. Artistes~ but a song that will personally remind me of 2008? Probably "Someone Great" by LCD Soundsystem?

    17. Compared to this time last year, are you:
    i. happier or sadder? About the same. Dissatisfied by the same facets of my personality.
ii. thinner or fatter? Thinner...so I like to think.
iii. richer or poorer? Just a tad richer, but not really.

    18. What do you wish you'd done more of?
    Keep in touch with people.

    19. What do you wish you'd done less of?
Spend money frivolously on food, angst

    20. How will you be spending Christmas?
    No longer relevant.

    22. Did you fall in love in 2008?
    Yes.

    23. How many one-night stands?
    Zero.

    24. What was your favorite TV program?
I got into a lot of old British comedies that aren't on air anymore!

    25. Do you hate anyone now that you didn't hate this time last year?
    Yes.

    26. What was the best book you read?
Book? My Sister's Keeper by Jodi Picoult. Short Story..."Bullet in the Brain" by Tobias Wolff (but technically I didn't read it, I listened to T.C. Boyle read it). So good.

    27. What was your greatest musical discovery?
I mostly rediscovered and reloved artists I already knew about, most significantly, Andrew Bird. But new artist...TV on the Radio.

    28. What did you want and get?
    ~better photography skills~

    29. What did you want and not get?
A car. Where is it, parentals?

    30. What was your favorite film of this year?
I don't know. I guess I have to say TDK because it was the only movie I saw in theatres. I saw Happy-Go-Lucky too, though, but that wasn't really a plot-driven film.

    31. What did you do on your birthday, and how old were you?
I turned 19. I had a bunch of shit planned to do by myself, but then I got sick. Ian sent me a lovely e-mail, though.

    32. What one thing would have made your year immeasurably more satisfying?
Not coming back to the United States.

    33. How would you describe your personal fashion concept in 2008?
Still loyal to jeans and a tee shirt.

    34. What kept you sane?
I did go insane a couple of times this year. I lost my data on my laptop and taking 19 credits wasn't as great of an idea as I thought it was.

    35. Which celebrity/public figure did you fancy the most?
Andrew Bird. So dreamy wonderful and modest.

    36. What political issue stirred you the most?
I guess the election. I kind of had to follow it for class. As for issue, I think the most important to me was getting off ~oil~ but it's kind of surprising how that was put to the backburner because of the economy.

    37. Who did you miss?
Jess, Laura, Mikey, Alex, my old relationship with my sister

    38. Who was the best new person you met?
    Ian Green.

    39. Tell us a valuable life lesson you learned in 2008.
Maybe those people everyone criticizes for "hating" capitalism are onto something.
