February + a meme

Feb 28, 2018 18:36

This month I thought I'd try my hand at the ten things meme that's been going around.

**Ten Things About Me**

1. I've had 3 dogs in my lifetime. Sissy, a female Springer Spaniel that my family got 6 months before I was born. Keasha, a female Keesh hound Black Lab mix my brother brought home when I was ten. And Ice, a male Siberian Husky Australian Shepard mix that my dad bought 'for my niece'(in actuality he's my dads dog) almost 5 years ago.

2. I've been to 22 of the 50 states plus Canada and Mexico but sadly I've yet to make it off the continent.

3. I am cross-dominant. I write with my right hand but use my left for most other things. And I'm actually ambidextrous when I play soccer and use a computer mouse, though I prefer my left hand on my home computer but that's mostly the way my desk is set up.

4. Speaking of soccer, I played from when I was five till I was 18 with my dad as my soccer coach.

5. I got into chapter books when I was 9 (baby-sitters club yo!) and until I was maybe 19 I read about 3 or 4 books a week. When I was almost 18 I discovered fandom and fanfiction and that slow over took my need for chapter books. I've come to realize that unless it's a long multi-book series I'm not interested in getting to know characters in a wham bam thank you ma'am style anymore. I was also into comic books for about 7 or 8 of those years.

6. I have both asthma and allergies. I was diagnosed with both before I was even in kindergarten. My asthma has gotten better over the years but I seem to keep acquiring new allergies. My weirdest allergies right now are my allergy to RAW carrots and the fact that only my LIPS are allergic to almond oil.

7. In fact, my earliest memory is of being hospitalized for an allergic reaction to an antibiotic. I was 2 and a 1/2. But otherwise I don't have as many memories of my childhood has most other people seem to.

8. I don't have any tattoos but I have two I that I have mentally designed that I'd like to get when I can afford them. Possibly as a 40th b-day present to myself.

9. I am an introvert. I need at least two hrs completely by myself before I can even think about going to bed.

10. I am a complete night owl. It's so bad that sometimes I think I have a circadian rhythm disorder or two. I'm 95% sure I have Delayed sleep phase disorder where you have trouble going to bed before midnight and a hard time waking up in the morning. I also sometimes think I have Non-24hr sleep disorder. That was pretty close to the way I slept before I got a 9-5 type job and give me a couple days off in a row and I can't help revert back to it.

**Other things**

I forgot last month that I wanted to mention I just recently joined instagram. I'm queitimreadingthis and I mostly post pictures of various dogs and scenic shots along with the very rare selfie post.

Because I'm all about finding good chocolate to eat I stopped by Whole Foods the day after Valentine's day to acquire some post-holiday boxes of chocolate for cheap. I ended up with small boxes of Lift Chocolates and Lake Champlain Chocolates. The Lift Chocolates, which is local local company from Boulder, were quite good. But the Lake Champlain box has been mostly underwhelming. Does anybody have recs for quality chocolates that are reasonably priced? I seem to have set Godiva as my standard for reasonably priced and good quality in chocolate. I'm also not much of a fan of See's or Russell Stovers.

On the job front I spoke too soon about the bakery finally being fully staffed. That only lasted for a hot minute. The new lady finally got hired a couple weeks ago and she trained with me for a few days. Let me just say, training someone else is HARD. Everything you do takes twice as long and by the end of the day I just wanted her gone so she wouldn't be in the way and I could get at least a few things done in a normal time frame. Anyway, about a week into training her we found out that the new guy had found a job in the field he's in school for and had put in his notice. His last day was today, in fact. So there's that.

I have the opportunity to take a couple trips this spring/summer that I would love to do but I'm not quite sure I'll have saved enough money to do both and keep building up my savings for other things. In May my niece is going to Orlando for a cheer competition and late in the summer my mom is planning on driving from Colorado to Washington State then down the 101 highway to California than driving thru Vegas to head home. I've never been to Florida and May seems like an ideal time to do it. I couldn't take enough time off work for all of Mom's road trip but the stretch from Seattle or Portland down to Cali. would be AMAZING. I've always wanted to go to Redwood National Park and Sequoia National Park and Mom's interested in those too. She's also mentioned maybe going to Yosemite National Park. Doing all of that would be a dream but I may have to chose just one, which would suck. I'm leaning towards the trip with Mom if I have to chose just one, as I already have another family focused trip in our trip to Glendo in WY with the cousins.
