i just read that this place is in Oakland on McCoy and i never knew it existed
and i live in wyckoff, went to indian hills and my best friend lives in franklin lakes right off of mccoy. i drove past this place every day of my life while in high school and this is the first time i've heard of it.
which side of McCoy is on, the entrance closest to 208 or the second entrance? is it by all the abandoned little building near where they are building the synagouge (which they've been building for 5 years).
Yeah, like I said, you'd never know it was there! I THINK it's closer to Colonial Road.... I'm sorry that I can't answer your question a little better...I wasn't the one driving and I'm horrible with directions! We basically just drove down the road and looked for a house that looked abandoned. All you can see is the driveway, which is a little overgrown and we just took a chance and went to see where it led. I'll ask my boyfriend if I'm correct in saying its by Colonial Road and get back to you. :)
ok, so the first entrance. is it by all the little white abandoned shacks?
also, that graffiti is so lame as the people who drew it are like all obnoxious upper middle class white kids who know nothing of the real world, or of life, beyond dicking around, driving the luxury car mom and dad bought them and smoking weed. lame lame kids and i had to go to school with them for 4 years who think that sort of shit is funny.
Well it was dark so I didn't see much, but there are little abandoned shacks along the driveway and you have to just keep going up to finally get to the house.
Yeah, the graffiti was pretty lame. We thought the "Meet me at the Vortex" one was kind of funny, but the rest just wasn't entertaining. If you're going to do some graffiti, make it funny or original. Or better yet, not at all.
how weird, cause sometimes on nice days when i was a junior/senior in high school i would drive down to those shacks and smoke cigarettes and enjoy the overgrowth and old buildings and the nice day but i never knew there was a house beyond the little old shacks and sheds.
i am SO going tomorrow afternoon to check this place out.
I hope I told you the right place! If it turns out I'm wrong about what side its on, it's VERY close to the end of the road, just a couple houses down. I'm sure you'll be able to find it no problem if you just look for a driveway that looks fairly unused.
I just thought of a fun idea for the community: we could post about a place, then if other people are interested in going, leave little messages for them or something. We should try that out sometime.
midnight walker? though that's more a person than place.
pleasureland in oakland is an abandoned theme park. clinton road in west milford an abandoned nike missile base in mahwah abandoned asylum in parsippany some abandoned train tunnel in edgewater/fairview the gates of hell in clifton
so yeah, all those places are 30 minute or less away from wyckoff.
no! but i've only been driving for 3 years, a year of which i was technically legally not allowed to drive after midnight (not that i followed that stupid rule).
but i'm not sure what his real story is. there is something very sad about him, very lonely.
this older fellow who walks along the entirety of russell ave in wyckoff every night around midnight he walks from franklin lakes road down to wyckoff ave and back up.
the rumor is that his daughter was killed by a drunk driver on russell ave and so he walks there everynight; i don't know how much truth there is to that story however.

Also, that stupid no driving after midnight rule is so dumb. New Jersey needs to get over itself.
