Writing/fan fiction thoughts

Fan fiction meme/questionaire taken from snowdarkred . :)

1. What's your favorite pairing to write? Is this the same as your OTP?

Hm, favourite pairing to write…well, I actually haven’t written many fics and completed them that have pairings in them. I only really have completed ones with Eric/Calleigh (CSI:Miami), Stella/Mac (CSI:NY), Mick/Beth (Moonlight) and out of those? Well, Eric/Calleigh would be one of the top choices because I got to get them together my own way. But pure enjoyment would have to be Mac/Stella even though it was basically general fic. Same as my OTP? I guess, because I like them, I don’t have one ABSOLUTE favourite pairing across my fandoms but these are all probably my favourite pairings in each fandom.

2. Which is the strangest pairing you've written?
Strangest pairing? Well, most of the things I’ve written are pretty normal which usually involve detective/cop/police partners becoming more or close friends or colleagues. Ignoring the actual situations but just the pair involved? If you say two men as a pairing is strange then that’s as strange as you’re going to get with me so far. Haha. And it’s only in NCIS where I’ve written that. A few Gibbs/DiNozzo fics (which haven’t become ‘pairing’ fic yet or not complete and are still unpublished WIPs) and *one* DiNozzo/McGee fic that I wrote on the NCIS sarkywoman’s kink meme. -and that one you can find because I wasn’t anon. Slightly crack!tastic though…only a tad. There’s also a fic (gen) involving Abby & Vance which is slightly different.

3. What pairing would you love to write but are afraid to and why?
I really, really want to finish writing Gibbs/DiNozzo for real but I just don’t want to muck it up. I’d also love to write Jack/Gwen but 1) characterization I’m worried I’ll muck up and 2) the crap that surrounds both sides that deal with Jack/Gwen could break my fragile self if it manifests onto my stories! :(

4. What's your favorite piece of your own work and why?
I like them all equally so far. I might have a soft spot for Worthless and Vanustas because I posted them as some of my first fic, and had the courage to do so. But I have another place for a few I’ve yet to post or finish because those are the first ones I ever tried to write (Bones). And my first posted crossover Castle/NCIS I like a fair bit! And currently though I still haven’t been in the mood much recently, I have a spot in my favourites for some of my CSI:NY WIP especially my longest one because well, it’s my longest fic so far! I just hope I can finish it, my beta probably thinks I’ve given up the smoke and her work was for naught. But I want to post it even though it’s not finished but I think I’ll wait till I have written out a little more first.

5. What's your least favorite piece of your own work and why?
None really. But I guess, Vanustas was kind of trying too hard or something…but it was a really cathartic experience and it felt so good to write it. I really wish I could continue it…maybe someday…

6. Which piece of your writing most expresses what you believe to be your writing style?
Hm, difficult because I go from waxing lyrical and poetic to just plain story telling… Worthless, 7:04 AM and Crime Scene Weaknesses are probably a good indication of my normal voice.

7. Which piece of your writing do you believe to be most out of character with your writing style?
It’s not out of character but it’s one that doesn’t get let out as often ‘Vanustas’.

8. Do you prefer to write for yourself or for other people?
Myself, you can’t really predict what others will like. But I haven’t had that much of an opportunity to write for others. Though I do have two requests to write up…

9. How do you feel about comments and constructive criticism?
I think most authors like receiving feedback; it’s good and nice to know that someone appreciates your writing. I like hearing if my ideas and thoughts correspond with somebody else’s too. I appreciate any who take a moment longer to just say that they liked what they read.

10. Do you prefer to write slash/het/both/everything? Is this the same as what you like to read?
I think I prefer het, because it’s more what I’m used to. But I do write slash mainly for one fandom (NCIS). But I have read slash in more than NCIS fandom, from Torchwood, Stargate: Atlantis, Doctor Who, CSI: NY, CSI. I just haven’t written too much. I read anything and would most likely write anything, I just haven’t written a heap of things yet.
