The girls are doing well at the Indian Wells tournament, Molik and Henin that is! They both won in two sets. Molik having won against a player ranked 70, while she climbs back up from retirement and is at 173 right now. But other Australian Dokic is still not having a good season losing in her opening round match, like at the Australian Open…

Tough assignment for Australia Fed cup team to play Ukraine in April. Stosur and Stubbs confirmed to play, but two more players will be confirmed. I’m not too sure they would be wanting to get Dokic to play…

I almost (not really, I can’t play so how can I coach?) feel that I could somehow improve the state of Britain’s tennis…that article is just…depressing in terms of how much money has been seemingly blown without a solid plan. I obviously don’t know what the people in charge of associations over there are doing but come on just that figure.

“It (Birtain’s Lawn Tennis Association) received over STG29 million ($A48 million) last year in profits from Wimbledon alone, while Lithuania's estimated annual tennis budget is just STG90,000 ($A150,000).”

I know its only one loss. Well, they argue five losses in a row…but…surely that money could have been given to charities or something? I mean…Andy Murray shouldn’t take all that even if they don’t know what to do with it. Perhaps they should ask Pat Rafter to go over? At least he’d get the kids interested in playing tennis, even if he might not be the best coach for professional players.

Karrie Webb is AWESOME. She’s the NON-Woods of golf. Winning her SEVENTH Ladies Masters! And doing so by being pushed amazingly by defending champion Katherine Hull. Webb equaled her lowest score (262) from 1999! I know she’s getting past her prime but boy is that a nice sounding fact. And now this week she is trying for her fifth Australian Open here in Melbourne. But she has Hull hot on her tail for that too. Go girls!

Melbourne Victory booked a third A-League grand final berth as Archie Thompson returned from injury to seal a controversial extra-time win over Sydney FC in their major semi-final on Sunday.

So now they are once again into the grand final! Yay! Victory have been dominating this draw ever since it began, but I think if I remember correctly Sydney won last year? Or was that the year before? So we’ll see if Sydney can climb back into a grand final berth, since they have to play Wellington then Newcastle to get there.

~The Laureus Awards! http://www.laureus.com/press_releases?article_id=1975

The Awards were announced in seven categories. The winners were:

Laureus World Sportsman of the Year: Usain Bolt
Laureus World Sportswoman of the Year: Serena Williams
Laureus World Team of the Year: Brawn GP Formula One
Laureus World Breakthrough of the Year: Jenson Button
Laureus World Comeback of the Year: Kim Clijsters
Laureus World Sportsperson of the Year with a Disability: Natalie du Toit
Laureus World Action Sportsperson of the Year: Stephanie Gilmore

Stephanie Gilmore won! Woot! Last time there was an Aussie win it was Layne Beachley, so it’s showing that it’s the same sport they recognize them in. I am glad for Clijsters! But sad Henin wasn’t on the nominees, they probably try to only have one person per sport. Why didn’t Federer win instead of Usain? Or Valenton Rossi? There were a lot of celebreties/actors there too. Hugh Grant, Clive Owen, Gwenyth Paltrow, Michelle Rodriguez. With Kevin Spacey hosting. Heh.
