Ironically enough, while Bear and I were looking at a new apartment yesterday the neighbor downstairs finally got dragged to jail. Apparently we missed a swat team stand-off that last about a half n' hour until they finally busted in his apartment and took him away. We'll never see him again. Oh well.
Now, to clear up confusion about the apartment situation...
Bear and I went and checked out The Royal Mills yesterday and there is no doubt in our minds that we want to move in asap. Of course, we need to take care of some other bills first, but as soon as we can afford to get in there, we'll be in there. It is, by far, one of the best places we could get into. If you live in a place like that there is no need to buy a house. You can never have all the comforts of this place even if you owned a house...unless you're stinking rich.
- We have a mile and a half river walk (where I can fish) right outside.
- There is a fire pit/huge chiminea outside. They provide the wood.
- A 24 hour gym with the top of line equipment/weights and high def TVs.
- They just added another room and are thinking about having pilates and yoga classes in it as a part of their fitness program.
- They have a rec room downstairs with a pool table, foosball, poker table, tv, radio, two wet bars, a mini-museum with mill related history. You can rent this entire room out and host a party there or bring your liquor down and just have some friends over. Guaranteed I can have my band play a show in that room. It's huge.
- Walk in closets/big enough to fit my dresser in.
- Washer and Dryer in the unit
- Dishwasher
- Huge bedroom, living room, kitchen (bathroom is way bigger than we have now...)
- All updated appliances
- Granite counter tops
- Hardwood floors
- Security key to enter building
- Indoor/outdoor parking (you choose)
- They are trying to build a pool, haven't decided which kind and where, but they are pushing for it.
- A study room that you can also reserve for meetings
- WiFi (won't have to pay for internet)
- Everything included but electric and cable (which we'll get for free with Bear working at Cox anyway)
- AC in the unit
- Maintenance 24/7 in emergency, within 48 hours otherwise.
- They have their very own WATER FIRE during the summer and other Mills related events (last summer they had a luau)
My only concern is just clearing up our credit and bills. They do all those credit/background/rental history checks and we fall short in all of those because A. I don't have much credit and he has to pay off one of his cards B. He is a felon, but as far as we know his stuff doesn't show up on a U.S. BG check, and C. We've lived in one place for about a year and a half. There is also something about being full time students which can somehow hinder your application, but I have a year left and he said he was going to tell them he's part time. I think we'll be alright, but that would really suck if it fell through because of those...
We looked at a few different layouts and the first pick goes for 1175 a month, our second is 1070 I believe. So, not too bad with all of those extras.
So yeah. Other than that things are great. Duncan, our new rat, already has a respiratory infection and I'm doing everything I can to NOT bring him to the vet because I really can't afford it, but I feel terrible knowing I MIGHT be able to help him. Damn you rats! Why must you be so inbred!?
Oh yeah, one more thing. We just finished our 5 track demo in the studio. We play a show in NY next weekend, but will have the CDs by Friday. If you want one let me know asap because we only have a hundred and we're using a lot of them for marketing purposes. They are $5 a pop and if I need to mail it to you I will. You have to hear the stuff, it's great! I'm excited.
