Sorry for the few days without updates. These lil guys are slave drivers. AND THEY AREN’T EVEN “AWAKE” YET! Just wait till they open those eyes. They tell us that it should start anyday now. Today they turned 9 days old (How did THAT happen?).
In case you’re curious, the white square in the whelping box is a ceramic tile - one of the new requisite “tactile” items - as you can see, they are unsure whether they are supposed to like it…although most of them do enjoy sleeping on it - they must like the coolness. This particular tile has a smooth side and a “bumpy” side. Green is loving the bumpy side. Another tactile item is the santa plastic baggie (stapled shut!!), donated by Abby. She’s really into the puppies. She helps us most nights with their nightly weigh in and puppy torture (the “Biosensor” stress testing).
Oh, and most of the puppies have at least doubled (several have TRIPLED) their birthweights!!! They are quite the CHOW HOUNDS, and no longer fit comfortably in their “coming home” box.
also, in this new video we show you their new transportation mode: via the “underground” pig rail. And YES, they are constantly that noisy! Yellow is SUCH a whiner-aner.
(Tonight we took another movie of them *swarming* mom at feeding time - but alas, I cannot download that one - I’ve misplaced the cable that connects the CAMCORDER to the computer. Drat. Maybe I can take one with my point and shoot at the next feed. I also have a request for Abby to sing a lullaby to the puppies… now I just have to get her to sing on command. 3 year olds!) :-)
