Fine...

After throwing the plates in the garbage can in the garage, I went back inside and said, "All right, I'm gonna head over to Matt's house, I'll see you guys tomorrow."

Eventually, after pleading from my mom and empty threats from my dad I brought the plates back in and put them in the sink.

They had been washed and dried and then thrown into the trash, so they were dirty, but less dirty than they were before. I didn't stick around to see what happened. I told my mom to make dad wash them off, but she almost certainly did it herself. I didn't want to bring her into it. That's really the only reason I didn't leave the plates in the trash. If I hadn't done anything, she would have been the one suffering for it, not my dad, even though I tried to tell my mom to just stick it out and leave the plates where they were until dad got them himself.

There's your anti-climactic ending.
