Yes, it has been a while. I really need to be in the mood to write to write a good entry. So I spent most of my winter break in Europe with Alejandro. I met him in Munich where he is studying and stayed at his dorm for a few days, including New Years. New Years was awesome. We bought fireworks (legally) and nearly killed ourselves setting them off. We had no idea what any of them did because it was all in german. Haha. We went to the area they have Oktoberfest (called Tollwood) and it was beautiful. They had fun outdoor toys for drunk people to play with and several tents with different music. There were bands and afterwards, there were DJs that played crappy american music. It was a lot of fun. German beer is delicious, and strong, and cheap. My favorite drink was the Radler, which is half beer half sprite. It's sweet and delicious.
We took a train overnight to Venice. Venice is absolutely gorgeous. Just water everywhere. There is not one ugly spot in the whole city (which is quite small by the way). We had our way with it in one day. New Yorkers are awesome at exploring a city quickly and thoroughly. I had espresso. It was absolutely delightful, and I fell in love with the man serving. I wanted him to be my grandpa. It was so cold though which was irritating. We flew everywhere else. We went to Barcelona next. Barcelona is a really freakin cool city, and we stayed right on the Main St. It was 4AM and it was loud as hell! It was great. Awesome bars and cafes and architecture. This architect Gaudi built sick shit... google that name and see all the crazy stuff he's done. I had REAL churros and they were amazing. They sell birds on the street! I wanted to buy one so bad.
Next was Amsterdam which was very cool. It was rainy the whole time though which sucked. Saw the house that Anne Frank hid in during the Holocaust which was very sad. Went into a couple coffeeshops ;) Though the asian people in our room were gonna steal our shit because I spent a half hour folding clothes with the lights on while they were trying to sleep. Gigglefest occurred when the other two people came back to the room. Gigglefest= the four of us laughing hysterically for ten minutes straight for no apparent reason and asian people getting confused and angry. Next was Berlin which is by far the coolest city of them all. They speak a lottt of english there actually, perhaps more so than in Amsterdam! We went to an awesome death metal bar when we got there called the Last Cathedral and it was awesome. We took a free walking tour which was really great because we learned a lot about the history of Berlin. We spent 95% of the time in the former East Berlin, which has recovered amazingly over the past 15 years. It's just spectacular.
Then we went back to Munich and Alejandro threw a party and I met all his friends. They're all really nice but I felt bad that I could really only speak english, even though I understood most of the languages floating around (German, Spanish, Italian, Portuguese, French). It was good to see Alejandro and we had a lot of fun together.
In other news, I am back at RPI. My classes are so easy/my schedule is so easy. I'm taking Bioinformatics II, Medicinal Chemistry, and Protein Folding.
So as you can see, I have no class, which gives me a lot more free time! So in addition to taking ballet and tap this year, I have also joined the frisbee team! Therefore, whatever night I'm not dancing, I'm working out with the frisbee team. So far I'm loving it. I want to be stronger and fitter. Let's see if I can play frisbee. Haha. I'm super happy about this because I've been wanting to join the team for three years now, but I never had the time to commit, and now I do. They're all good friends of mine and I can't wait to get closer to them (just in time for me to leave... go figure). I'm going on their spring break to Georgia and will be playing a game of frisbee everyday. It will be fun and interesting and adventurous.
In more EXCELLENT news, I got accepted to Albert Einstein College of Medicine, which I already mentioned in an earlier post. But it's something I wouldn't mind reitorating. Thanks to all who replied and congratulated me. I'm giving Dartmouth the runaround because they're in gay NH. Fuck that shit. Haha. I'm still going on my interview to Columbia. Can't hurt to check out other schools... especially an Ivy League. I'm curious to see if I'd get in. And if I do, I'd certainly have some decisions to make. It's the weekend of Feb 9th, so if you wanna hang out let me know! And that means you Marisa. Haha.
I think I will be updating more frequently now. I've just been avoiding it because I knew I needed to make a massive post like this one, and I have become quite the procrastinator. But now that that is overwith.. you will be seeing more posts from me. Hopefully. I miss the times when people knew every small detail of my life.
