Oh no--not MY kid!

I've always been a super accepting person. I have friends of every color, race, religion, and sexual persuasion. I always told my kids that I would love them and accept them, no matter what. But I didn't expect THIS.

It started out innocently enough. Orion loves to go to obscure game websites and check out the news, gossip, and test levels. Lately, he's been hanging out on mostly Japanese sites. Understandable. A lot of excellent games come out of Japan.

Then he commented to me, just offhandedly, that ALL the best games come out of Japan. He was very irritated that several games he was interested in were coming out only in Japan. "Mom," he says, "I want to learn Japanese!"

"Okay," sez I.. Learning a second language is always a good thing. Especially an international business language like Japanese.

Then it happened.

I took a picture of O one afternoon, and he flashed a peace sign, right up next to his face. "What's with the peace sign?" I asked, desperately hoping he was just in hippie mode. "That's what the Japanese kids do when you take their picture!" he crowed.

I tried to speak, but nothing would come out. Then he SAID IT.

"Mom! I wish I was Japanese!"

EEEEEEEEEEEEEK!!!

My youngest son is Wapanese!

A Weaboo!

At least he hasn't learned to say "kawaii" yet.

Cthulhu help me. I wonder if there's a support group available. PFWAP or something. Sigh.

Oh well. At least he's not a furry.
