Prelude to a Movie
Thanks to everyone for the kind words and support.
Today I watched the new Modest Mouse video, "Ocean Breathes Salty" and I will be masculine enough to tell you that I cried. The natural beauty was overwhelming.
The song in itself is beautiful, the words and the music all echo the ocean and being content in being alone with nature.
The next best thing is the video concept - a child, alone, makes friends with the bird he nursed back to health. The child has so much fun with it but then the bird dies. The child is crushed but he falls into a dream where he and his friend play again. It's touching.
The final afterthought is the beauty of the nature around it. A giant field of yellow sunflowers. I never take the time to notice how beautiful nature really is, hardly anyone can. Cliche, I know, but hell it happens.
So, take a second and realize all that's good isn't really gold - most of the time it has a more yellowy hue to it.
